All my life here in the United States I have watched the World Cup on Univision since I prefer listening in Spanish rather than English and also because Univision has had exclusive Spanish-language rights to broadcast the tournament in the U.S. since 1978.
Surprisingly, a couple days ago I read an article in Dos Lives stating that Univision will NOT be broadcasting the biggest tournament in the world in 2018 and 2022, as Telemundo outbid them to reach the largest audience of Spanish – language television viewers (according to Nielsen ratings). With that said, the World Cup will be broadcast on Telemundo, the second-largest Spanish-language content producer in the world and the second-largest Spanish-language network in the United States, behind Univision according to wikipedia. At first I was not really excited about the change, but I realized that changes are good, and in any case, the World Cup will still be broadcast in Spanish and by Andres Cantor, known for his elongated goaaaaaaaal!
