Social media and the web has become a major part of our lives over the last decade and continues to grow ever more important as it is being incorporated into daily life and business. While companies are using the digital world to their advantage, catering to the ever-connected masses of social network users, personal social media networks, such as Facebook, are pioneering innovative ideas that will facilitate your digital needs.
With concepts such as digital wallets, automatic sharing, and social television on the rise, it will mean that it is increasingly important to be a member of this digital world. David Armano makes predictions in his blog about how the sharing of information, whether it be personal statuses or activities, purchases, and even the creation of and finding jobs will be made much easier. It also seems that a great amount of streamlining and evaluation of online content of social media can be expected, as many aspects of today’s digital world are given points and ratings. Rewarding the response and quality of social media members is also expected to be big. Even television is supposed to become more interactive and social as most viewers are most likely using laptops, tablets or phones at the same time, by incorporating ways of utilizing multiple screens. A new style of writing to fit the niche between a tweet and a news article could even develop as the use of tweeting and blogging are quite important in today’s marketing.
With all of the new applications, uses for phones, I become increasingly impressed by the innovation made by companies such as Google, Facebook, Apple, among many others. It is great to see the rise in popularity of sites such as Quirky where new ideas are highly valued, and Etsy, which is keeping things real by promoting people that create unique handmade products; I personally hope sites such as these become more important. While at the same time, there is a loss some of the older methods of socializing, conducting business, and, living, I feel that social media is at the same time bringing the world community closer together. Great strides have been made over this past year in the area of social media and web innovation, it will be interesting to see what 2012 has in store for us.
