Eugenio Derbez is without a doubt one of the most prominent Latino actors from Mexico working in the United States. The 52 year old Mexican actor decided to pursue his career at the age of 7, when his mother, the actress Silvia Derbez, saw the Oscars as a dream come true. Today, he could be nominated to this prestigious award.

His movie, “No se aceptan devoluciones” (Instructions Not Included), is one of the most successful foreign films in the country at the moment. “Instructions Not Included” has brought in more than $44 million in the United States, and $46 million internationally.

Eugenio stressed that this film was directed to a general audience, not just Mexicans. This seems perfect to me, since we are very divided by nationalities at times. At the end of the day it doesn’t matter if you are Mexican, Colombian, Venezuelan, or Cuban; we are all Latinos and we are united by our language.

Derbez has demonstrated not only how to be a successful comedian in Mexico, but he has also participated in movies such as “Beverly Hills Chihuahua”, “Under the Same Moon”, and “Jack and Jill”.

The Latin American audience demonstrates its support for Eugenio, who has more than 4 million followers on Twitter. We know without a doubt that Eugenio Derbez is, and will continue to be, a Latino actor who makes the difference in this country with his example of hard work and perseverance. Aside from being a successful actor, Eugenio is an incredible human being whom I have had the opportunity to meet on various occasions. I feel very fortunate to have met such a huge celebrity.

As Latinos, we know that success arrives when we work hard for it, and that in this way we can make a difference.
