On February 28, an event was celebrated which unfortunately doesn’t receive the same advertising or importance of other events on the yearly calendar. I’m talking about National High Technology Day. This is an annual celebration, and this year it was celebrated across 32 cities in the United States and Puerto Rico with a turnout of more than 2,200 students for this 15th edition.

Hispanic or Latino?

What is the correct term, Latino or Hispanic? We hear these two words used interchangeably in the media, at political conventions, and in everyday conversations. But what is the difference?

Latino generally refers to countries (or cultures) that were once under Roman rule. This includes Italy, France, Spain, etc. Brazilians are considered to be Latino, but are not considered to be Hispanic.

The aforementioned studies estimate that in 35 years, Hispanics will make up a third of the American population, which will have a considerable economic impact on the country. Business magazine Forbes mentioned in one of its articles that there are more than 70,000 CEO’s in the US that are Hispanic.
